So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.” — Matthew 27:66 (NIV)
The day after the crucifixion was a silent Saturday—a day of deep grief, fear, and waiting. Jesus had died. The tomb was sealed. Hope, to many, seemed buried with Him.
In Matthew 27:62–66, we see the religious leaders worried, not about Jesus’ death, but about His promise to rise again. They sealed the tomb, posted guards, and did everything humanly possible to keep Him in the grave. But what they didn’t know was that God was still at work, even in the silence.
Waiting in faith doesn’t mean we have all the answers. It means we trust the One who does.
