A traveller once found a beautiful stone on the path—sparkling, polished, and glowing in the sun. Thinking he had found something valuable, he placed it in his bag. But when a merchant examined it, he said, “This is fool’s gold. It only looks like treasure—it has no true worth.”
In today’s world, deception often wears a friendly face. Not every opportunity is from God. Not every teaching that sounds spiritual is scriptural. The enemy is a master of disguise, appearing not with horns and fire, but with false comfort, counterfeit truth, and half-light promises.
Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:14 that Satan masquerades as an angel of light. That means deception can look like wisdom, sound like compassion, and feel like peace—until you hold it up to the light of God's Word.
