As a young girl, Mariam lived in a village where food scarcity was common. She remembered the ache of hunger vividly—but even more than food, she longed to understand the God her grandmother always spoke about. Each night, after everyone had gone to sleep, Mariam would kneel by the firepit and whisper, “God, if You’re real, I want to know You.”
Years later, that hunger led her to a church where she encountered Christ—and from that day, she never stopped seeking more of Him.
In Matthew 5:6, Jesus doesn’t say “blessed are those who have it all together.” He says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.” He promises that those who deeply long for His ways, His presence, and His truth will be filled.
Spiritual hunger is not weakness. It’s a sign of health. Just as our physical hunger tells us we need food, our spiritual hunger tells us we need Him. And the beauty of God is that He responds to that hunger—not with a lecture, but with fulfillment.
