A young boy once trapped a bird in a cage and covered it with a cloth. Every time the bird tried to fly, it would hit the sides and fall back down. One day, the boy’s older sister saw it, opened the cage, and lifted the cloth. The bird hesitated at first, then took flight, finally free. The bird wasn’t weak—it just couldn’t see the way out.
Jesus reminds us that truth isn’t meant to trap us—it’s meant to free us.
In John 8, Jesus speaks to people who believed in Him, yet were still bound by tradition, pride, and hidden sin. He told them the path to true freedom wasn’t just believing, but continuing in His word—living by truth. When we know the truth deeply—about God, about ourselves, and about the world—it liberates us.
Truth shines a light on what’s hidden, breaks chains of deception, heals lies we’ve believed, and silences the enemy’s accusations.
