When Jesus spoke these words to His disciples, they were standing on the brink of something unimaginable. They were ordinary men—fishermen, tax collectors, common folk—yet Jesus promised them power. Not worldly strength, but divine empowerment through the Holy Spirit.
Think of Peter. Before Pentecost, he was fearful, denying Jesus three times. But after receiving the Holy Spirit, he stood boldly before thousands, proclaiming the Gospel with power and clarity (Acts 2). That’s what the Holy Spirit does—He transforms timidity into boldness, confusion into clarity, fear into faith.
