We all know what it feels like to get dirty—whether it’s mud on our clothes or clutter in our homes. But what about when our hearts feel stained? When guilt lingers from words we wish we hadn’t spoken, choices we regret, or patterns we can’t seem to break? Psalm 51 is David’s heartfelt cry after he had failed God deeply. Instead of hiding or excusing his sin, David came before God with a sincere request: “Create in me a clean heart.”
We, too, must come to God in humility, asking Him to cleanse our hearts—not just once, but daily. As parents, spouses, leaders, and followers of Christ, the condition of our heart shapes everything we do. A clean heart allows us to love fully, lead wisely, and reflect God’s grace in a broken world.
